Rockestra 2026 in Malta: A Guide to the Ta’ Qali Concert for Charity
Rockestra Malta 2026 returns on Saturday, 26 September, at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali, Attard. It is one of the more distinctive nights on the island’s autumn calendar: the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra reworking rock classics alongside a line-up of Maltese artists, with every euro raised going to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation.
This year’s edition carries extra weight. The theme, “What a Wonderful World,” was chosen in memory of Maestro Aurelio Belli, who organised previous editions of Rockestra with the Foundation and passed away earlier this year at the age of 49. His wife, Gloriana Arpa Belli, is one of this year’s featured performers.
What to Expect at Rockestra 2026
Rockestra’s format hasn’t changed much since it started: the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra provides the symphonic backbone, while a rotating cast of Maltese singers and musicians take turns fronting rock and pop standards, reworked with a full orchestral arrangement behind them. This year’s confirmed line-up includes artistic director Pawlu Borg Bonaci, Kenneth Calleja, Joe Roscoe, and Gloriana Arpa Belli, with the group Animae reuniting for the occasion. Expect a set list built around the “What a Wonderful World” theme rather than a single genre or era.
A Concert With a Cause
Every edition of Rockestra exists to raise money for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, which funds medical treatment, equipment, and support for people in need across Malta and Gozo. That charitable core is part of why the concert draws such a broad local audience, well beyond people who would usually buy a ticket to a rock show. This year’s edition, launched at a press conference at San Anton Palace, leans further into that spirit given the tribute to Maestro Belli.
Getting to MFCC, Ta’ Qali
Ta’ Qali sits inland, roughly in the centre of Malta, so it isn’t walkable from any of the coastal towns. Wherever you’re staying in Sliema, St Julian’s, or Valletta, the most straightforward route is by bus: routes running between Valletta and Attard, and others connecting Sliema and St Julian’s through to Ta’ Qali, all serve stops within a short walk of MFCC. Given this is an evening event, it’s worth checking the last return bus times before you go, or budgeting for a taxi back.

Ta’ Qali doesn’t sit within walking distance of any of our properties, so there’s no honest case for a specific stay recommendation here beyond the practical one: basing yourself in Sliema, St Julian’s, or Valletta keeps you close to the bus routes that reach MFCC directly, and puts you back among restaurants and nightlife once the concert wraps up.
